Local Athlete Storms Downtown Core

Integris recognises the passion and dedication in young athletes and with the upcoming 2015 Canada Winter Games, what better way to do this than by showcasing a young local athlete in a mural on the side of our Town Centre Branch.

Kaitlyn Martin, 14, has just become an age eligible athlete, competing for a Team BC spot for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. She will be competing in the Super G, Giant Slalom, and the Ski Cross qualifying events this February.

Martin is a grade nine student at College Heights Secondary School who started skiing when she was just two years old. She excelled through the Nancy Greene and the Alpine programs and has devoted much of her childhood to her ski racing passion.

Two years ago Martin competed in the Whistler Cup where she finished well. She is determined to do her best and hopes to have a strong and healthy season this year as she prepares for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Martin is a fierce competitor and the photo selected for the mural depicts Martin, intensely focused and highly intimidating, howling her racing war cry.

Proper-kaitlyn-mural-unveilHer family and friends are extremely pleased to see a young local athlete featured in the downtown core: “As someone who is heavily involved in alpine skiing, I am happy to see Integris involved, ensuring that there is a strong legacy for alpine skiing in the north beyond the 2015 Canada Winter Games,” says Jim Martin, Kaitlyn’s dad.

“Our vision when developing the Town Centre Canada Winter Games mural was to showcase a local athlete who projects the intensity and confidence that we as Northerners feel as we host the nation,” says Dan Wingham, Manager of Partnerships at Integris. “When we saw Kaitlyn’s photo, we knew we nailed it! It was then a matter of getting permissions from the Martin family, the City and the Province. We wish Kaitlyn and all local and national athletes our best as they journey to the podium,” concludes Wingham.

Integris is an Official Community Partner of the 2015 Canada Winter Games sponsoring the Alpine events at Purden Ski Village.

We’re there and we hope you will be too!
