Building financial health for a brighter tomorrow

Celebrate 75 years with Integris

Unceded Dakelh and Secwepemc Territories — On Oct. 21, 2021, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 73rd anniversary. In addition to International Credit Union Day, Integris also celebrates it’s 75th Anniversary on October 28th. In honor of these special days, Integris invites members and community to engage with us virtually on our digital platforms and pick up your Life Out Here calendars on your regularly scheduled visit to the branch. Finally, we will donate $1 for every in-branch visit on October 21 to charities in our communities in lieu of our regular cookies and treats.

“Happy International Credit Union Day & 75th Anniversary Integris members! We are your community credit union, committed to enriching the lives of all we serve. As we celebrate 75 years of Life Out Here we just want to say thanks for choosing Integris!” Said Alison Hoskins, Integris CEO. Board Chair Jim Rivett also commented: “Happy International Credit Union Day! on behalf of the board, thank you for 75 years of membership and growing with us as we have grown within our communities.”

Credit unions are financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to big banks for more than 291 million members in 118 countries worldwide. More than 86,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a plethora of financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.

Integris Credit Union respectfully acknowledges that we operate on beautiful and unceded Dakelh and Secwepemc Territories. Integris is a financial cooperative with $1.8 billion in assets under administration, offering banking, insurance (including ICBC Autoplan), Financial Planning, and Group Benefits to over 27,000 members in the North Central BC region. As a living wage employer, Integris continues to be a leader and community enriching organization.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference. This year’s theme is “Building financial health for a brighter tomorrow.”

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge the financial well-being of credit union members around the globe. This theme highlights the way credit unions are responding to that challenge by working with members to help them rebuild their livelihoods.

International Credit Union Day is recognized by the World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.

A number of Integris communities have declared Proclamations for International Credit Union Day celebrating the good work of credit unions. We’re happy to share these proclamations on our social media channels.

On Oct. 21, credit unions from around the world will join forces to celebrate the day with membership drives, contests and fundraisers to help their local communities. Be sure to check out our social media pages for your chance to win some prizes. For more information about Integris’s events, visit us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn: @integriscu.
